Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud, a 60% chance for showers and a thunderstorm this afternoon. The high today is only 20 and tonight we drop down to 10. Tomorrow looks much better with sunshine and a high of 25 feeling like 27.
FARE HIKE? If you take Go Transit or the Union Pearson Express to work or school, you might be paying more this fall. Metrolinx is holding a vote on the 3% fare hike tomorrow. The change would only affect trips that cost more than $5.65. It wouldn’t take affect til September.
BEER DELIVERY: Just in time for Canada Day, the Beer Store is launching store-to-door delivery. The trial project is called “Beer Xpress.” Customers will be able to order online or through an app, and have the beer delivered to their home within two hours. Right now it’s only for residents in East Toronto and Ottawa. The base delivery fee for the Scarborough area is $8.
CANADA 150 FIREWORKS IN TO: Nathan Phillips Square has nightly FIREWORKS at 10:55PM from June 30th to July 3rd. On CANADA DAY, the CN Tower will light up the sky at 10:30PM with music simulcast on our sister station boom 97.3! You can also catch fireworks July 1st at Harbourfront Centre at 10:30 pm and at Centennial Park in Etobicoke at 10 pm.
QUEEN GETTING A RAISE: You and I are lucky to get 2% but Queen Elizabeth II is getting a major boost to her salary: more than six-million-pounds! Buckingham Palace says the sovereign grant will be 82.2-million-pounds next year, which works out to almost 105-million-dollars U-S or about $138,000,000 Canadian.
