TORONTO TEEN DROWNS: 18 students are home from Algonquin Park after their school trip ended in tragedy. OPP recovered the body of 15 year old Jeremiah Perry after he drowned in Big Trout Lake. The TDSB says all students took a swim test but Jeremiah’s dad says his son couldn’t swim. Jeremiah a student at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute. His family had just moved to Toronto from Guyana last September.
TO HOME SALES PLUNGE: Sales may be down but prices are still up. The number of homes sold in the GTA last month plunged a whopping 37.3% compared to June last year. The Toronto Real Estate Board says prices were up 6.3% to just under $794,000.
KING STREET: If you take King Street to or from work, you might need to find another route. City council is talking about limiting cars on King between Bathurst and Jarvis to speed up the busy 504 streetcar route. If the project gets the green light, drivers would be forced to turn right at all intersections along that stretch of King.
DUCK MAKES BIG BUCKS: Waterfront business in Toronto say this Canada Day long weekend was their busiest ever and who are they thanking? The big yellow DUCK! The people who plan the Redpath Festival say the Duck was well worth the $250,000 to rent it since they probably made $4.2 million bucks.
