Kelly Clarkson just did an interview with the magazine Attitude, where she shares how unhappy she was at the beginning of her career. There was a lot of pressure to lose weight and stay ‘skinny. She says: “When I was really skinny, I wanted to kill myself. I was miserable, like inside and out, for four years of my life. But no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense. I thought the only way out was quitting. I, like, wrecked my knees and my feet, because all I would do is put in headphones and run. I was at the gym all the time.”
Kelly goes on to say there were many other difficult moments to navigate through. She famously clashed with producer Clive Davis over her song ‘Because of You’ which he thought was stupid because it didn’t rhyme: “I was told that was a shitty song because it didn’t rhyme. A group of men thought it was OK to sit around a young woman and bully her. I was told I should shut up and sing.”
Today, she has signed onto a new record company and her new album, Meaning of Life is about to drop on October 27th. She’s also living a happy and successful life as a mentor and idol to many.
