Name: Tamara Madison
Tell us about yourself: After getting the ball rolling as a new artist, Tamara connected with fellow Canadian Artist, Savannah Ré, which led to the R&B/ Reggae collaboration “Geet Weh,” in 2013, produced by GMF. Quite the buzz was created, thanks to the amount of airplay the song received on local radio stations. This led to meeting producer, Don Fredericko. After much experimentation and gaining more influence from her musical obsessions, including James Blake and Little Dragon, Tamara found her own style and was finally ready for her debut. In 2014, Tamara shared her debut EP, Relapse: Part One, to the world, which rapidly grew her fan base worldwide and allowed her to be noted as one of the top female R&B artists of Toronto.
“Relapse: Part One” has proven to be the greatest showcase of her talent, astounding voice and mature persona.
Tamara Madison was raised in Brampton, Ontario by Jamaican parents, who anticipated greatness for their daughter from birth. As early as five years old, singing became Tamara’s passion and she began to receive recognition for her amazing vocals and talent from many.
Upon graduating from high school, it was then that Tamara decided to pursue her music career and put her education on hold to follow her dreams, during her second year in university. During this early stage is where she began to realize that she needed to really embrace her deeper register and subtle raspy vocals, like some of her musical influences, Jazmine Sullivan, Toni Braxton and Monica.
It wasn’t long after the release of her EP, that Tamara announced the pregnancy to her, now, 2 year old baby boy. During this time, Tamara released her second single “Crumble”, featuring a long time friend and rising star, Redway, who passed away following a car accident in 2015. Although struggling to juggle her music career, going back to school full-time and her new life as a mother, Redway’s passing was a strong reminder to not give up on her passion. After a two year long hiatus, Tamara Madison is ready to release Relapse: Part Two, continuing her personal and honest love story, starting with her new release “Seldom”.
