In case you haven’t heard, the classic 1972 blaxploitation film “Super Fly” is getting a remake, and here’s the first trailer.
Directed by T-Dot’s Director X, the man behind some of your favorite rap videos, the movie brings Phillip Fenty’s story from ’70s Harlem into modern day Atlanta, which X calls the new epicentre of black culture.
The cast includes Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell and Michael K. Williams.
While the original “Super Fly” spawned an iconic soundtrack from Curtis Mayfield, Future, who also executive produced the film, has been tapped to curate the soundtrack for the upcoming remake. In fact, you can get a listen of a brand new Hendrix song in the trailer.
X’s “Superfly” hits theaters on June 15.
